Ellen Haiken is an artist living and working in Boston, Massachusetts.

I describe myself as a sculptor who paints.  Although I studied sculpture at Cooper Union, when I started to paint, I had to train my eye to see things in a whole new way.  Even my drawings  changed. Instead of seeing objects as forms and outlines, I began seeing everything as patches of adjacent colors and tones.

My eye is naturally drawn to movement and chaos.  I’m fascinated by the unexpected beauty in the process of decay and weathering, on both the manufactured and the natural.
